Captain Cook Cruises & AAT Kings plan new tour product

17-04-2010
Sydney’s iconic Captain Cook Cruises will partner one of Australia’s top touring companies, AAT Kings, to offer a new cruise & coach product featuring NSW regional and coastal attractions, following a grant provided by the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism.
The grant will be matched dollar for dollar by the two organisations while they conduct a feasibility project for the scheme expected to be finalised mid-year.
The coach tour will visit some of the main regions around Sydney, matched with a short, accommodated cruise which would capture the outstanding experiences and beauty of the New South Wales coastal areas.
Captain Cook chief executive Nick Hortle said the funding would enable them to take a systematic and methodical approach to determine what will work and, importantly, what will generate the greatest appeal to the state’s international, domestic and local visitors.
AAT Kings managing director Les Cox believed the project was an amazing opportunity to undertake in-depth research into the development of a product which would provide a unique and quality experience tailored specifically to the travel needs and desires of international and domestic travellers.
“As an Australian touring specialist, we see the opportunity to provide our clients with the Cruise ‘n’ Coach experience a perfect addition to our current Sydney Sightseeing portfolio, which includes day trips around Sydney and to regional areas such as the Blue Mountains, Hunter Valley and Port Stephens” he said.
With over forty years experience in Tourism Captain Cook Cruises has a reputation for innovation and for quality and a reliability and consistency in delivery that underpins one of the most recognised tourism brands in Australia.
“Even during the past 18 months which have seen some of the toughest times for Tourism Captain Cook Cruises continued to innovate and introduce new products to meet the demands of our passengers – Sunday Morning Breakfast and High Tea at Sea are just two examples and we are excited by the potential for a “Cruise n Coach” product”, Hortle stated.
