Online travel company Expedia has discontinued cancellation fees on all flights, accommodation, tour packages and car reservations booked on its website Expedia.com.au

Travellers can call the company’s 24 hour call centre and change or cancel their reservations without incurring Expedia fees.

Expedia marketing manager, Louise Crompton, said sometimes circumstances could affect travel plans at a moment’s notice and travellers should not be penalised for this reality.

“Australians should be concerned about the amount of money they pay in fees with other travel websites.

“Removing all of our change and cancellation fees and our flight booking fees definitely increases Expedia.com.au’s value proposition for consumers and is unique to the market,” she added.

Currently, Australian travellers may be charged fees of up to $50 by other online travel companies when changing or cancelling by phone. Travellers may also be charged up to $50 when booking a flight on websites other than Expedia.com.au.

Expedia.com.au has not charged customers flight booking fees since last September.
