Hobart to Huon and Channel - Hobart, TAS

Round Trip 146

This round trip through the apple-growing districts south of Hobart and along the western shore of the D'Entrecasteaux Channel is particularly attractive in spring when the trees are in blossom.

After leaving the city, the Huon Road winds its way around the foot-hills of Mount Wellington to Ferntree, after which the road is terraced around the mountain spurs to Huonville. The tour continues through the rich farming and orchard districts of the Huon Valley to Cygnet, where a stop is made for lunch. The road then skirts the D'Entrecasteaux Channel, a sheet of water separating Bruny Island from the mainland. Further on is Kingston, a popular bayside resort, and for the remainder of the journey the road skirts the Derwent River.
