Bald rock, Bald Rock National Park

Bald rock! A massive igneous rock similar to granite but with a different mineral content is the central feature of Bald Rock National Park and the Tenterfield Glen Innes region. The rock rises 200 metres above a tall eucalypt forest well watered from runoff streams. The rock is about 750 metres long and 500 metres wide and is the largest granite monolith in Australia. A three-hour return walking track traverses the face of the rock to reach the summit.

Heading south from Stanthorpe, turn left at Stanthorpe along Amosfield Rd., to Wilsons Downfall and Bald Rock National Park
