Bateman's Bay & Jervis Bay Atractions

A portion of Jervis Bay bay was acquired in 1915 by the Commonwealth from the State of New South Wales for use as a port for the Australian Capital, Canberra. It was for a while the site of the Royal Australian Naval College. In 1930 the College was removed to the Flinders Naval Base. Some of the buildings have been converted into guest-houses, and there are two hotels there. The resort is practically self-contained in regard to holiday requirements and entertainment. There are tennis courts, a golf course, and swimming baths, and opportunities of fishing and boating. Jervis Bay is 35 kms from Nowra, the terminus of the Illawarra Railway Line, and can be reached by service car.

The fishing resort of Huskisson is also on the Bay, about 15 kms distant, and can be reached direct from Nowra.
