Rouse Hill Estate

This fragile property resonates with over 180 years of one family’s occupation. Explore the nineteenth century farm out-buildings, paddocks, gardens and the rich collection of objects, overlayed with later additions that are conserved intact as an essentially undisturbed record of the family’s long history.

At the heart of the property lies a Georgian sandstone dwelling built between 1813 and 1818 by convict labourers assigned to the enterprising free settler Richard Rouse. Rouse Hill is less than an hour’s drive from central Sydney along Windsor Road. Due to the fragile nature of this site visitors can only view the property on a guided tour leaving each hour.
