Thredbo is one of Australia’s most popular ski resorts. The ski fields are located deep in Kosciuszko National Park, one of Australia’s most scenic alpine regions.

Thredbo has the longest ski runs in Australia, and this attracts around 700,000 winter visitors annually. This is the place to ski among the Snow Gums at a resort that boasts some of the country’s finest accommodation and skiing facilities.

Thredbo village is situated at the foot of the mountain and connected to the ski slopes by a lift from the village itself. During really good seasons it is possible to ski from top to bottom.


Thredbo village provides a cosmopolitan atmosphere with a huge range of accommodation, great cafes, fantastic restaurants and legendary après ski facilities. Thredbo also has a child care center for the little ones and a leisure center with gym and squash facilities just in case you didn’t get enough exercise on the slopes.
For the keen skier, Thredbo boasts the longest ski runs in Australia and the most vertical alpine terrain. There are slopes to suit every skier, no matter what your level of expertise. The resort has 14 lifts and three express quad chairs so everyone gets up the mountain fast and the queues are kept to a minimum.

Thredbo also has a comprehensive ski hire service and when nature does not produce enough snow, there is snow making equipment that covers around 25% of the slopes. This means better skiing conditions and longer seasons. There is also a 700 meter long bobsled track with plenty of twists and turns.
Thredbo is also a hiking and summer sport destination, including rock climbing and abseiling, fishing and Cross-country cycling and hosts a blues music festival, boasting approximately 300,000 summer visitors.

Thredbo is really easy to get to. Most international visitors fly into Sydney and then hire a car and drive to Thredbo. You can also fly into Canberra or Cooma. A snow bus and tours also operate on a regular basis from Sydney.
