St Patrick's Day Parade and Family Day
Date: Sunday 21st Mar 10
Time: 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm
St Patrick's Day is an annual event that celebrates St Patrick, the most commonly recognised patron saint of Ireland who died on 17 March in or around the year 493. St Patrick's Day is generally celebrated on March 17, and while not a national holiday in Australia, St Patrick's Day is usually celebrated at Irish pubs and begins with the infamous breakfast in a glass, Guinness.

The St Patrick's Day Parade and Family Day attracts over 100,000 people each year. The Parade begins at 12.00pm at Town Hall on the corner of George and Bathurst Streets and continues down Park and Elizabeth Streets before ending at Hyde Park. The parade consists of floats, Irish dancers, musicians and men, women and children dressed in traditional Irish costumes. Each year nearly all 32 counties of Ireland are represented.

The Family Day is held at Hyde Park from 1pm to 7pm. Enjoy live entertainment from Irish musicians and dancers, food and beverage stalls and an interactive children's area.

Come along and enjoy a great family day out and of course, don't forget to wear green!
